Welcome – Kolipaïo
The majestic Mount Ham dominates the region with its 713 metres above sea level. The dazzling 360 degree panoramic view (link is external) over 3 regions is the reward awaiting you after climbing to the top.
All outdoor enthusiasts will be delighted by the different levels of difficulty offered. Intermediate to expert, the marked trails crisscross the mountain over 18 km.
In winter: Explore nearly 6 km of cross-country ski trails or reach the summit on snowshoes or crampons! We also have one of the only forest disc-golf courses in Quebec (9 baskets). Snowshoe, pole and crampon rentals are also available.
100% nature rustic accomodations are AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND! | Experience spending a night in one of our 3 log cabins for 2 to 4 people, or in one of our 5 prospecting tents, which can accommodate up to 8 people. A REGIONAL PARK WITH ABORIGINAL COLOURS
In the interest of pooling their resources, and thanks to a non-repayable grant of $ 146,850 by Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) under the Canadian Initiative for Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile and a grant from the Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones, the GCNWA and the RMC des Sources have decided to develop and implement a promising project for their two communities.
Essentially, this collaboration is divided into four components: the creation of a multifunctional interpretive space dedicated to the Abenaki presence on the territory; the development of an Aboriginal-inspired lodging sector; the creation of a discovery trail in the mountains using interpretive panels; and the development of educational tools for visitors.
This partnership agreement has given rise to this major project in the Regional Park, thus enhancing the current character of the tourist site while giving it an Aboriginal colour. On site, several infrastructural improvements with Abenaki accents have already been introduced. This cultural enhancement is distinguished among other things by a new annex – the Abenaki Space – that visitors can discover now. It can also be found in every promotional activity thanks to the new image of the Regional Park inspired by the etymology of the name “waban-aki” (or “abenaki”), which means “people of the rising sun”.
